Do I really need an app to send invoices? +
No — a Word or Google Docs template + email works for a handful of invoices per year. The value of an app shows up around invoice 10+: saved clients (no retyping addresses), saved services (no retyping rates), status tracking (so you know who has not paid), and one-tap payment links. If you invoice once a quarter, skip the app. If you invoice weekly, the app pays for itself in time savings.
Is this a QuickBooks or FreshBooks replacement? +
No, and intentionally so. QuickBooks and FreshBooks are full accounting suites with bookkeeping, tax filing, expense tracking, and bank reconciliation. They cost $20–$35 per month for a reason. The dashboard groups overdue invoices for easy follow-up. Mark Paid is a manual tap — Invoice Maker does not auto-detect payments because it does not connect to your bank account.
Will my invoice data upload to a server? +
No. Invoices, clients, and payment links are stored in your iCloud Drive — using your Apple iCloud account, not Swarmval’s. Email sending uses the iOS native Mail app. Payment links use your direct Stripe / PayPal / Venmo / Cash App accounts. Swarmval has no copy of your client list, your rates, or your revenue.
